Leaderships of ruling Sudanese party meets Turabi at his home arrest
Three leaders of the ruling national party in Sudan met with the leader of the People's Congress, Hassan al-Turabi, in his home arrest residence in Kafouri suburb in Khartoum, in a step that indicates that his release has become near.
News reports in Khartoum said that the meeting was attended by leading figures of the ruling party Muhammad Youssef; Ahmad Abdul Rahman Muhammad, and Sheikh Abdul Jalil al-Karouri.
It is stated that the meeting came as preparations to release Turabi, as announced by the Sudanese government earlier on Wednesday.
Turabi was taken from Copper Prison in Khartoum to a house for the security forces in Kafouri area.
Worthy mentioning that government officials expected the release of Turabi with the end of the emergency law, as soon as the new constitution is approved. This constitution is currently being discussed by the national council ( parliament).
