Tishrin: 4.475 million is the size of the labor force in Syria

A survey carried out by the Central Statistics Bureau in cooperation with the Anti-Unemployment Commission stressed that the total labor force in Syria is 4.475 million workers, Tishrin daily newspaper said Wednesday.

The daily added that nearly 700,000 of them work in tourist sector, 1,1 million in agriculture, 609,000 in industry and 500,000 in building and construction.

The survey pointed out to the importance of the tourist sector in creating direct and indirect job opportunities and in distributing the labor force according to the needs of public, private and joint sectors, the daily continued.

The statistics indicated that the job opportunities that emerge from the tourism sector constitute 15.1% of the total jobs out of 4,475,272 job opportunities.

The job opportunities that the tourist sector created in the cities reached 502, 284 and in the suburb 175, 585 of the total job opportunities, the survey concluded.
