Madrid attacks: Chergui brothers released for lack of evidence
Spanish judge carrying out inquiry in last year's Madrid attacks, released on Tuesday the Moroccan Chergui brothers for lack of evidence, a court official said.
Abdelkhaleq (29) and Abdelhaq (32) Chergui, who were arrested on May 23 for alleged involvement in the blasts, will however have to undergo a daily judicial control.
The two brothers, along with a third Moroccan, Mourad Bhar, AKA "Ismail," 20, were believed to have provided drug-trafficking money, logistical assistance and technical know-how to help blow the commuter trains that killed 192 and injured over fifteen hundred.
Bhar is also believed to have shared the same apartment with one of the bombing suspects, Rafa Zouheir, during the days that preceded and followed the March 11 attacks.
