Spanish left coalition lashes out at Israel as an obstacle to peace
The Israeli occupation of Arab lands is the only obstacle to realize peace in the Middle East, there is no peace in the region without establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as a capital, General Coordinator of the Spanish Unified Left Coalition, Gaspar Llamazares said Friday.
In an interview with SANA in Madrid, Llamazares demanded the EU to exert pressure upon Israel in order to withdraw from all Arab occupied lands according to the related UN resolutions.
"Spanish government's decision of pulling its troops out of Iraq is a wise one, because it is impossible to realize any democratic operation or national concordance in Iraq under a military occupation," Llamazares said.
In a response to a question about an expected visit by a Spanish left delegation to Damascus soon, Llamazares stressed that this visit is coming within the frame of fraternal and old relations between al-Ba'ath Arab Socialist Party and Spanish left coalition.
The Spanish Left Coalition enjoys a great popularity in Spain and Europe as well, it also has many MPs in both EU and Spanish Parliaments as well as in the Spanish regional parliamentary councils.
