Syria's cuts military and intelligence cooperation with the US
The Syrian ambassador to Washington announced that his country ended during the past days its military and intelligence with the USA because of what he called the unfair American allegations.
Ambassador Imad Mustafa told The New York Times in an interview that his country no longer finds use for this cooperation after the government of the US president George W. Bush decided to escalate tension despite the steps taken by Syria to halt the flow of men and assets to gunmen in Iraq and the withdrawal of its forces from Lebanon.
The paper quoted officials in the Bush administration that the Syrian new stand required intensive discussions at a higher level in the American administration about the new steps that might be taken against the Syrian government.
According to the reports, the officials said that the options include military, diplomatic and economic moves, but senior defense department officials warned that if any military move is made against Syria it should be limited.
