Jews plan to break into al-Aqsa mosque, Palestinian Authority asks world for help
The Palestinian Authority has called on the international community to move seriously and pressure the Israeli government in order to protect the Islamic and Christian shrines against the plans of Jewish extremists.
This came as extremist Jews intend to try to repeat breaking into the courtyard of al-Aqsa mosque today.
The Palestinian cabinet strongly denounced the threats by extremist Jews to attack al-Aqsa. The Palestinian minister of al-Awqaf and religious affairs called on the Organization of the Islamic Conference OIC to convene an urgent meeting to help in this regard.
In a statement to al-Jazeera TV on Sunday evening the Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Sabri Ikrama stressed the danger besieging al-Aqsa mosque. He said that the Jews started since Sunday evening attempts to break into the courtyard to spend the night in, and that they were confronted by the police forces.
The Islamic movement in Israel called on Palestinian Muslims to rally intensively to perform prayers in al-Aqsa mosque.
Witnesses said that some 1000 Palestinians arrived Sunday evening to al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem to defend the mosque against any breaking in activity to be carried out by Israeli activists from the right extremism.
