French goal keeper gets 3-month ban for spitting at Moroccan ref
Olympic de Marseille (France) goal keeper Fabien Barthez was banned for six months, including suspended three months, for spitting at Moroccan referee, Abdallah El Achiri, during a friendly last February between his club and Wydad Casablanca.
The French football federation's central discipline commission also ordered Olympic de Marseille to pay a Euro 1,000 fine.
The stormy match was suspended and Marseille defender Frederic Dehu was sent off after the melee but has been acquitted by the French Football Federation.
