Police man killed in clashes in Mecca
News reports quoted a Saudi security source as saying that gunmen attacked an inspection point for the police in Mecca and killed one of its members and injured others.
The source which asked to be anonymous said that an armed group, seemed to be trying to enter the city, opened fire at an inspection point. The source added that the police clashed with the gunmen and this resulted in killing one of them and injuring others. One of the attackers was injured and arrested.
The source explained that the security forces headed for the place of the attack while some gunmen fled to a nearby building. The attack came two hours after the closure of the voting ballots for the third and last phase of the municipal councils elections.
