Casablanca anti-drug brigade seized last Thursday 16.316 tons of hashish on board of a trailer-truck registered in Portugal and driven by a Spanish national.

Colonel Dalil Skali, of the customs brigades of Casablanca, said the traffickers used skilful cover techniques in this operation that was meant to smuggle out 501 packs of drug and that he described as " a première in the records of the Casablanca customs."

Colonel Skali told the Moroccan News agency MAP customs services succeeded in discovering the drug thanks to the cooperation of Casablanca police.

He explained the drug was hidden in the truck that was to be ferried by a Cyprus boat leased by the Moroccan navigation company (COMANAV) and destined to a ghost society in France that declared it was transporting a MAD 120,000 potato load (around 12,000 euros.)

A French national residing in Casablanca and owner of an exporting company was shipping the drug, estimated at MAD 160 million. The man, the driver and a Moroccan middleman were arrested part of the investigation to identify the true instigators of the operation.
