Bush and Hizbullah party

Originally published

The Lebanese President George W. Bush has kept the door opened on Tuesday before the Lebanese Hizbullah party which is placed by the USA in its terrorist list in order to play a main political role in Lebanon. He urged the Hizbullah party to prove that it is not a terrorist organization.

Bush told journalists in the presence of the Jordanian King Abdullah II in Washington "we view Hizbullah as a terrorist organization and I do hope it will prove it is not so by dropping its weapons and not to threaten peace between Israel and the Palestinians." He indicated that his country declared that Hizbullah is a terrorist organization because of its "terrorist" practices in the past. The spokesman for the White House said that Hizbullah will change the dynamism if it dismantles its weapons and gives up terrorism.

Last week, the White House denied a press report that the US started to support the efforts made by France, the UN to get Hizbullah involved in the Lebanese political life.

However, American officials asked to be anonymous said that Washington is facing a bottleneck on how to deal with Hizbullah because of its big political force in Lebanon.
