US, France say Syrian withdrawal is a positive step
US President National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley described Sunday preliminary reports on Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon as positive.
"The US is waiting for details of a withdrawal plan from the UN Envoy Terje Roed-Larsen after his talks with Syrian officials," the US National Advisor said in a statement to US Fox News TV Channel.
Meanwhile, French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffan, for his part, said the Syrian pullback is a positive indication, but his country awaits for a withdrawal in the framework of a timetable.
"France wishes that the positive indication will be boosted until the resolution 1559 is fully implemented," Raffan told private French "Radio J."
