Originally published

The resigned Lebanese prime minister Omar Karami said he will accept the formation of a national unity government including the opposition after he was nominated by a parliamentarian majority.

A source close to Karami said that if the opposition refuses to participate, this will lead his nomination will be reconsidered for forming the government.

The opposition did not nominate any one to preside over the government and preferred to hand over President Emil Lahoud a list demanding a neutral government and the resignation of the security departments and the withdrawal of the Syrian forces and intelligence. The list, which official source said that the Lebanese president refused to receive.

The Lebanese parliament voted at a majority of 69 votes out of 128 for re-naming Karami to form the next government. Just ten days after his resignation over the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafic Hariri.
