Russian FM confers with Syrian deputy FM

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov discussed with Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister, Walid Muallim the developments in the region and the Lebanese issue. In a statement to reporters following the meeting, Lavrov said his country was satisfied by the plans of the Syrian side regarding Lebanon and the forthcoming withdrawals form the Lebanese territories.

The Russian minister pointed out to Syria's respect of international resolution, and said that resolution 1559 doesn't include a timetable for the withdrawal of the Syrian troops.

For his part, Muallim said that he had briefed Lavrov on a specific plan for the implementation of the Taif Agreement with the agreement of the Lebanese and Syria governments in the framework of respect of all international resolutions.
