While political maneuvers continued to form a new Iraqi government, the interim Iraqi government decided to extend the emergency law for the next 30 days in order to continue its joint military operations with the American forces in chasing the armed groups to the north west of Baghdad.

In an official statement, the Iraqi government said that the emergency law which allows it to impose curfew and close airports, the borders and install check points in any region will continue until March 31st.

The extension of the emergency law came after several Iraqi cities were exposed to attacks that resulted in killing scores this week.

On Thursday, two persons were killed, one of them is a police man in a bomb explosion targeting a procession for the American army near Sameraa to the north of Baghdad. The bodies of two Iraqi soldiers were also found on Thursday to the north of Baghdad.

In another field development, one Iraqi was killed and other 18 were injured including five Iraqis following a booby trapped car explosion that targeted the police director in Baqouba.

Five persons were killed in a suicide attack carried out by two booby trapped cars in front of one of the entrances of the ministry of the interior in the downtown of Baghdad.

Simultaneously, two American soldiers were announced killed on Wednesday in a bomb explosion in the downtown of Baghdad and another one was killed in the same day in the "triangle of death" near Babel governorate to the south of Baghdad.
