Moroccan MP denies daughter kidnapping

Originally published

Mostapha Ramid, an MP from the opposition Islamic party, denied on Saturday that his daughter was kidnapped, explaining that she voluntarily left the family house to the city of Marrakech (southern Morocco).

After deep investigations led by the authorities and by myself, I came to the conclusion that my daughter, Hajar, voluntarily traveled to Marrakech, on February 23, following a depression crisis, Ramid told MAP, deploring speculations on the purported abduction of his daughter.

Ramid's communiqué came in response to a story run by the Spanish daily "El Mundo," and echoed by the Moroccan newspapers, suggesting that the abdication was orchestrated by the Moroccan authorities.

Casablanca attorney general said in a communiqué: "intensive investigations conducted immediately showed that the girl took the decision to leave the family house," adding that, having arrived to Marrakech, Hajar phoned her father to claim she kidnapped.

The teenager returned to her family's house safe and sound.
