Israel welcomes Syrian new withdrawal from Lebanon

Israel welcomed Syria's announcement to redeploy its forces in Lebanon and simultaneously stressed support for the implementation of the UN Security Council resolution 1559 which states the withdrawal of foreign forces from Lebanon and dismantling the weapons of armed organizations including the Hizbullah party.

The spokesman for the Israeli foreign ministry Mark Rejef said that Israel played its role in implementing UN resolution to withdrawal from Lebanon and now "the international community wants to see the Syrian forces withdraw from this country."
