Syria's ambassador rebuffs untrue image on Syria

Syria's ambassador to Britain rejected on Wednesday the image depicted by some Western and US media circles of Syria saying it has no basis in reality.

In a lecture at the Middle East League Headquarters, Sami Khiyami said the image presented by some US and Western media circles particularly on Syria has no link to reality and does not reflect the fact of amity and tolerance that various sectors of the Syria society are enjoying.

"Syria has always been the country of amity and tolerance as well as the country of culture, human and civilization interaction as she represents an example to be followed by world states," the ambassador Khiyami said.

He pointed out to the comprehensive process of reform and development that Syria is witnessing under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad clarifying that it included various aspects of the cultural, social, economic and political life in Syria.

Khiyami reviewed the most remarkable inclinations of the Syrian foreign policy stressing Syria's keenness to cement the inter-Arab ties and to reach the just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
