Head of Suez Canal Authority: Suez Canal revenues hit $ 3.087 bn

Suez Canal revenues hit a sum of $3.087 billion, marking an increase of $1.263 billion compared to last year figures, the Head of Suez Canal Authority said on Wednesday.

Ahmed Fadel said that December was the best for monthly revenues, hitting a record of 297 million dollars.

"The amount is the largest in the Canal's history spanning 135 years."

Fadel said that 16.911 ships crossed the waterway in 2004, carrying 621 million tones.
