Kuwait tries two soldiers over attacking the American forces

Kuwait has brought two of its military workers to the military court under the charge of planning to launch attacks against the American forces in the country.

The director of morale guidance and public relations Maj. Gen. Youssef al-Mulla told the Kuwaiti News agency that this measure was taken to complete necessary legal measures against them, noting that other detainees whose number was not verified were released after proving they were not involved in plans violating Kuwait's security.

In its Tuesday's issue, the Kuwaiti daily al-Seyasah said that among the detained military men are several army officers who affiliate to the thinking of al-Qaida organization, noting that several blueprints for the positions of the American army were found with the detainees.

Those men were arrested one week ago after Syria handed over one Kuwaiti while heading to Iraq to fight the American forces. Their detention coincided with a warning by the American embassy in Kuwait on December 15 against schemes to launch attacks against Americans there.

During the two past years Kuwait had witnessed several detention acts in the circles of Islamists. The supreme court in the country earlier abrogated an imprisonment sentence against four Islamists accused of planning to launch attacks against the American forces there.

Worthy mentioning that Kuwait keeps forces of 25,000 soldiers distributed on several military bases. Kuwait has been a launching point for the war led by Washington and London against Iraq. It is still a logistic bridge for supplies to the American and foreign forces in Iraq.
