Lahoud held meetings on local, Arab issues
President Emile Lahoud of Lebanon and Secretary General of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council Nasri Khouri on Friday discussed the Syrian-Lebanese relations and action of the general secretariat of the Council.
Khouri briefed President Lahoud on results of the Syrian-Lebanese Ministerial committees' meetings such as decisions they took on trade exchange between the two states.
Khouri also briefed him on work of the agricultural joint committee and Syria's support to Lebanon regarding the issue of the Arab "Tayseer" agreement, as well as the transport committee's decisions on canceling taxes regarding transport by land, sea and air between Syria and Lebanon.
Earlier, Lahoud met a delegation representing the Arab Banks Union and the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences participating in the Banks Union Conference due soon in Beirut.
Lahoud talked about future developments in the economic, social and banks domains in Lebanon, asserting importance of boosting economic, trade, developmental and political solidarity among Arab states.
"The Banks Union Conference due soon in Beirut is a good opportunity to get acquainted with the real situation in Lebanon," Lahoud said.
