Conference in Yemen calls for empowering women politically

Deliberations of the first democratic forum for the Arab woman started on Saturday in Sanaa with the participation of more than 70 women from 21 Arab states.

The conference is being held under the slogan "political empowerment of women is a necessary step towards political reform in the Arab states." The event is organized by the Arab forum for human rights in collaboration with the Kingdom of Holland.

Sanaa conference discussed empowering women politically and discussing the implications of representing her in the authority and the decision making positions as well as discussing Arab women conditions and experiences and the status of the women movement in various parts of the Arab states.

This conference, however, is held in coincidence with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of convening the World Women Conference which was held under the auspices of the UN in Peking.
