Aberdeen to hold memorial service for Hicham Zerouali

Originally published

Scottish club Aberdeen will hold a memorial service for its former Moroccan player Hicham Zerouali, 27, who died last Sunday in a car crash in Rabat, the British press reported on Thursday.

A number of close friends will make brief speeches and supporters are invited to attend, with a book of condolences also being compiled by the player's former agent Kevin Davidson.

Aberdeen signed the Morocco international in October 1999. He then left in the summer of 2002. After a spell with Al Nasr in the United Arab Emirates, Zerouali returned to Morocco last year.

The striker died just hours after scoring twice in the opening six minutes for his club FAR Rabat in a 2-1 home win over Kawkab Marrakech.
