Okaz: Mousa's distinction between Terrorism and Resistance

Originally published

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa has stressed the necessity to distinguish between terrorism and resistance in order to not mix between the two concepts.

In a statement to the Saudi Newspaper "Okaz" published Thursday, Moussa said that resisting the Israeli occupation is not considered as terrorism, pointing out that mixing between resistance and terrorism weakened credibility of war on terrorism.

Moussa asserted the necessity to separate between terrorism and Islam as saying that Islam is innocent from terrorism and we cannot take Islam as a reference for any terrorist act.

Moussa called the Arab states for cooperation to prevent infiltration of terrorists and to watch the funds, airports and outlets, emphasizing that the Arab league rejects to sign any memo or agreement equalizing between resistance and terrorism.

He expressed the Arab League's readiness to adopt a unified Arab vision to face terrorism, pointing out that the regular meeting of Arab Interior Ministers which is scheduled to be held in Tunis is just the beginning of a unified vision against the danger of terrorism collectively.
