Jordanian policeman opens fire at workers heading for Israel
One Jordanian policeman opened fire at several Jordanian workers at Wadi Araba border crossing with Israel and this resulted in injuring three of them.
A spokesman for the general security directorate justified the fire to that the workers tried to bypass the border to Eilat in Israel, illegally. The spokesman indicated that the incident took place on Thursday morning while one policeman was on his official duty at the crossing which is situated on the Red Sea when workers at one of the Jordanian companies tried to enter by force and cause chaos as well as not abiding by security orders. This obliged the policeman to open fire to control the situation.
Official estimates said that the number of Jordanians working in Eilat that cross the borders daily is estimated at 180 workers working in the agricultural sector.
