Arab League supports syria's call for resumption of peace negotiations
Arab League Secretary General, Amr Moussa, said Syria's call for the resumption of peace negotiations reflected a sincere desire to reach a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
Moussa told reporters after meeting the UN Special Coordinator of peace in the Middle East Terry Rod Larsen in Cairo overnight that this call also mirrored Arab willingness and determination that all peoples in the region enjoy security and stability.
The AL chief urged Israel to reconsider its policies and resume the deadlocked peace negotiations with Syria. Moussa said he also discussed with Larsen the situations in the occupied Palestinian lands and efforts to secure proper climate for the Palestinian elections, as well as the latest developments in Iraq in light of the recent international meeting at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on Iraq.
