Shura Council committee condemns Israeli remarks on smuggling weapons

The Arab and Foreign Affairs and National Security Committee of the Shura Council condemned the irresponsible remarks of some Israeli officials on smuggling weapons across the Egyptian borders to with the aim of blaming the country which has been respecting the peace treaties since 1979.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the committee asserted that Israel knows well that its security hinged on fulfilling its committments and implementing the agreements it had accepted and signed.

The committee condemned the tragic incident which claimed the lives of three Egyptian policemen who were performing their duty at the Egyptian borders in Rafah.

The committee requested the Israeli government to fulfill investigations around the issue as soon as possible and take swift measures that live up to the seriousness of the incident.
