Abul-Gheit, Japanese FM probe Africa's permanent representation at UNSC

Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit and his Japanese counterpart Nobutaka Machimura discussed yesterday Egypt's bid for a permanent UN Security Council seat representing Africa.

Tokyo is aware that African countries are discussing the issue and will respect their decision on which country should represent the continent at the UN body, Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hatsuhisa Takashima said after the meeting.
