Kuwait: Parliamentarians call on Sheikh Saad to withdraw from the political life
Kuwaiti parliamentarians yesterday called on the crown prince Sheikh Saad al-Abdullah al-Sabah, who has been sick for many years, to withdraw from the political life.
During a session for the nation's council, parliamentarians called for "revitalizing the law of the Emirate's inheritance in a way that preserves Kuwait and the ruling family." The opposition liberal parliamentarian Ali al-Rashed said "we recall the hero of liberation crown prince who is loved by every and each Kuwaiti, but his current health condition requires a decision." He added that "it is not a shame that the official to get a rest after performing his duty towards his homeland."
However, the minister of state for the cabinet affairs, Muhammad Sharar, strongly protested against al-Rashed's demands saying "it is not permitted to discuss issues of the ruling family in open." But al-Rashed persisted that "he has to give advises to the ruler of the country."
Last Thursday Sheikh Saad ( 73 year old) returned back to Kuwait after he had spent one month in Britain where he "successfully held medical tests." Moreover the ruler of the country Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah appeared on October 26th for the first time in the open after he had returned back the same month from New York where he had also held medical tests.
