Petroleum Minister calls for reconsideration of gas price

Natural gas prices must be reconsidered in view of the recent increases in crude oil prices in world markets, Egypt's Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmi said yesterday.

"Natural gas markets must be preserved from crude oil market instability in order to protect the interests of producers and consumers," Fahmi added.

Separating crude oil and natural gas prices would help increase investment in the gas sector, which is less subject to risk, he said.
