King resolved to endeavour with pope for peace and co-existence in Middle East
King Mohammed VI of Morocco has stressed firm resolve to continue to endeavour with Pope John Paul II for the establishment of peace and co-existence in the Middle East on the basis of justice and international legality.
In a congratulations message to the pope who is marking the 26th anniversary of his election, the sovereign stressed firm resolve to continue to endeavour with the pope "in my capacity as Amir Al Muminine (commander of the faithful) and chairman of Al-Quds committee for the restoration of peace and co-existence on the basis of justice and international legality in the middle east, cradle of celestial religions."
The king also praised the pope's "laudable action to enable the Catholic Church fully play its role for the prevalence of lofty spiritual values in a world, alas, often prey to moral deliquescence." This is evidence, said the king, that both Christians and Muslims ought to defend and exact the respect of the ideals preached by our celestial books."
