Five Palestinians killed in Gaza, UNRWA deplores 'Israeli days of redemption'
The number of Palestinians killed by the Israeli forces on Monday increased to five after one Palestinian died at Yabna camp for the Palestinian refugees because of his wounds he had earlier.
Four Palestinians were killed in Gaza earlier on Monday morning in two separate operations that targeted the occupation forces inside the so-called green line.
One Israeli sources announced the death of two Palestinians who tried to sneak into Houlit settlement near Sofa crossing to the south of Gaza to carry out a Palestinian operation there. The occupation army alleged that one of the Palestinians was killed in a bomb explosion he was carrying while the second was killed by the Israeli bullets.
The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement ( Hamas) claimed responsibility for this operation and explained that the two killed men were Abdul Aziz al-Jazzar and Abdul Sattar al-Jaffari.
For its part, Saraya al-Quds ( al-Quds Group), the military wing of the Islamic Jihad, announced the killing of two of its members Saadi Abi Eish ( 25 year old) and Muhammad Ashour ( 22 year old) while they were trying to implant an explosive near Jreib military position on the border line.
Meantime, al-Quds group stressed that two other members of its activists opened fire at a group of occupation forces in the downtown of Gaza and were able to kill one soldier and injuring another, stressing that the two activists fled away. However, the Israeli sources said that one of the Israeli officers was greatly injured and the soldiers were able to kill the two shooters.
In a recent UN comment on the volume of damages inflicted on Jabalia camp for the Palestinian refugees in Gaza during the Israeli "Days of redemption " operation, UNRAW general commissioner Peter Hansen described the destruction caused by the occupation as a flagrant violation of the international law. In his first visit to the camp after the withdrawal of the occupation forces, he said that the Israeli forces destroyed some 90 houses and inflicted huge damages on several UUNRWA schools during the operation which lasted for three weeks.
The UN official estimated the number of Palestinians who became displaced because of the recent Israeli invasion of the camp at 600 to 700 persons excluding some 20,000 persons who lost their houses following previous Israeli operations.
He said "when I see such destruction I wonder whether the international community will help us to withstand it."
The Israeli "Days of redemption" resulted in killing 140 Palestinians in Gaza, while several houses were completely demolished and vast areas of land were leveled.
