Moussa: AL to help women obtain ID cards

Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa yesterday called for a nationwide campaign to help Arab women obtain identity cards.

"The League will offer assistance to Arab non-govern- mental organizations (NGOs) in this regard," Moussa said during the opening session of the conference 'Women and Citizenship', organized by the AL with the UN Development Program (UNDP) and the Society for the Development of Egyptian Women.

The AL Economic and Social Committee are adjusting some regulations to permit NGOs to work in an advisory capacity with the AL to solve the problems of the Arab world.

UNDP representative Adel Abdel Latif said that legislation must be adjusted to enable women to participate in decision-making.
