Riyadh: al-Harameen establishment desolved
The Saudi Arabian ministry of al-Awqaf and Islamic affairs yesterday desolved "al- Harameen charity foundation," one of the major charity societies and non- governmental associations in Saudi Arabia.
The US had accused this establishment's founder and many of its branches of financing "terrorism." An official source in the establishment said that the ministry "asked the establishment's board to close its doors and sack its employees as from today ( yesterday)." However, a Saudi official said that the establishment has until October 15 to desolve all its operations.
Saudi official sources said that the establishment receives annually donations from Saudis reaching between $ 40 and 50 million, almost half of the donations collected by all charity societies in the Kingdom.
The advisor of the Saudi crown prince Adel al-Jubeir announced on June 2nd that Riyadh is about to desolve the establishment and form a committee to supervise the charity works outside the kingdom. This will be within the measures to monitor the finance of terrorist groups. Al-Jubeir explained that the " Saudi people's commission for relief and charity works abroad will assume carrying out the establishment's activities, active in Saudi Arabia."
