A local oil company has been awarded the tender for a pipeline in Libya.

Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmi announced yesterday that the Egyptian Petrojet will set up the pipeline that will link wells in the south of Libya to its north coast ports.

Five international oil firms competed with the Egyptian company to take on the project, which is expected to cost 99 million euros, Fahmi added.

"Work will be starting in November," he said.

Pterojet also won another tender announced by the Saudi Aramco to install and manufacture an oil platform in the Saudi area on the Red Sea.

Fahmi lauded the Egyptian companies' participation in the international tenders which open new vistas of technical cooperation and provide job opportunities in addition to earn foreign currencies.
