Arab League, Demonstration at Al-Azhar Universit in support of Palestinians

Arab League Secretary general Amr Moussa urged UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to intervene to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

Deputy AL Chief for Political Affairs Ahmad Bin Hali said in statement Monday that Moussa asked Annan in an urgent letter to report to the UN Security Council and the General Assembly on "the massacres perpetrated by Israeli troops against the Palestinians."

Bin Hali added that AL Chief also sent similar letters to Presidents of the UN Security Council and the General Assembly and briefed them on the meetings of the Arab Foreign Ministers in Cairo on the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian lands.

Meanwhile, hundreds of al-Azhar University students in Cairo demonstrated against Israeli crimes in the occupied Palestinian lands, particularly Gaza Strip.

The protestors called on the Arab states to boost cohesion to face up to Israeli aggression and terrorism and offer help to the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights.
