Morocco hosts first call centers expo

The first international call centers expo is organized on Sep. 30 through Oct. 01 in Morocco's economic capital, Casablanca, with the presence of over 60 international exhibitors.

Morocco has made call centers, a privileged sector for outsourcing,

"among the privileged choices of its development strategy," said André Azoulay, advisor of King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

Azoulay, who is chairing the expo, said this choice is the result of an ambitious strategy and of the Moroccan economy's openness.

Evoking the debate on outsourcing and doubts expressed by some circles in Europe over this issue, he said this is "a false debate."

"When a Spanish, French or another company decides to settle in Morocco, this should be done in the framework of Morocco's partnership with the European Union."

This is currently evidenced by the existence of over 60 call centers settled in Morocco in addition to nearly 6,000 "active positions," he said, noting this number is expected to double in the coming years.

Casablanca exhibition is bringing together 60 exhibitors, including nearly 30 international companies from Spain, Senegal, France, Belgium, Canada, Dubai and the Maghreb.
