New Zealand withdraws its forces

Originally published

In a statement on Thursday, the New Zealand government announced that the 61 engineers in the New Zealand army deployed in Iraq will return back to their country on Saturday and no replacements will be sent.

The engineers soldiers were in a base for the British army in Basra to the south of Iraq and assumed the operations of rebuilding. The prime minister Helen Clerk said in a speech via the National TV "there is no suggestion to send another force," adding I can not think of that now. I simply think that Iraq is a greatly dangerous country.
