The advisor of the Iraqi national security advisor Muwaffak al-Rubei said yesterday he had a heart attack but added he intends to return back to work immediately after his health condition is improved.

Al-Rubei, who has been since a long time calling for giving up violence, denied reports by Arab media that said he had resigned as an objection to the American assaults against Najaf.

He said in a telephone interview from a hospital in Baghdad that he will not resign and he had suffered a heart attack and was admitted to hospital on Monday. He said that " Luckily, doctors succeeded in dealing with his case but yet could not reduce the blood pressure."

He explained that " the doctors said that there is a need to make more tests but I might return back to work within few weeks."
