Over 30 ha of forests destroyed by fire near Tangier

Originally published

Some 35 hectares of forests were burnt by a violent fire that broke out Monday night in the rural locality of Maslawa (15 km from).

The fire squads, supported by auxiliary forces agents and volunteers, fought the fire for 13 hours.

The abrupt nature of the land and strong east wind (known as chergui) have complicated the fire squads mission. They had to use back-pack devices to reach inaccessible areas.

Efforts to put out the fire continued until Tuesday morning.
