Electricity supplies cut in Bahrain
Governmental sources said that the electricity cut which hit the country was because of works of maintenance carried out by the Bahrain Aluminum company ALBA.
This comes at a time when the temperature reached 45 degree in the shade at this time of the year.
In a statement, the ministry of electricity and water said that the halting took place during routine maintenance operation for ALBA company, adding that the technicians at the ministry started work to re-start all electricity stations in the Kingdom gradually.
The ministry asked the citizens to limit water consumption -- while al-Salameyah health center, the largest hospital in Bahrain -- called on citizens via the radio not to go to hospital with the exceptions of illness because ventilators are not working.
Meantime, a spokesman for the American fifth fleet which takes Bahrain as a headquarters said that the fleet has its own generators and was not affected by the cut.
