Washington doubts al-Sader's acceptance of the mediation conditions, two American soldiers killed
The US administration has doubted the news which talked about the acceptance of the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader for a peace plan to end the violent fighting in Najaf.
The US national security advisor Condaleeza Rice said in a televised interview said "we can not trust al-Sader," noting previous experiences in which he "repeatedly said or pretended he will accept the truce but turned his back to it."
Rice stressed that the most important thing is that the Iraqi government run the affairs of the country and therefore they can understand the threats inflected by al-Sader whose followers can not be permitted to control the streets and occupy holy places.
Meantime, the American army announced the killing of two of its soldiers in al- Anbar province to the west of Iraq. One of them was in an attack by Iraqi gunmen and the second in an accident.
In a video tape, an armed group calling itself " Saraya al-Shuhadaa " ( Martyrs groups) announced it holds an American journalist Meka Garen, news agencies said he was kidnapped five days ago in al-Nasereyah.
The group threatened to kill the hostage after 48 hours if the American forces will not withdraw from Najaf. Garen was working for " For Media Corners " magazine and had investigations on the antiquities in Iraq.
