Moroccan woman succumbs to witchcraft rituals in Brussels

Originally published

A Moroccan woman, living in Brussels, died last week from wounds sustained during an exorcism ritual she thought would cure her from infertility, the Belgian press reports.

Three persons, including the victim's husband, were arrested for charges of involuntary homicide and non-assistance to a person in danger.

The general prosecution says the victim, desperate to have a child, had accepted to undergo witchcraft sessions.

The woman ended up in hospital after her husband called an ambulance claiming he found his wife laying in the bath tube.

The doctor refused to deliver a death certificate after he noticed several haematomas on her body.
