Tottenham signs Morocco defender Naybet

Morocco captain and former Deportivo La Coruna defender Noureddine Naybet signed with Tottenham Hotspur Thursday.

The deal is subject to Naybet's ability to obtain a work permit.

Naybet, 34, has over 100 caps with Morocco and also led Deportivo to the Spanish League title in 2000 and the Spanish Cup last season.

Tottenham is expected to pay a transfer fee of about $1.25 million for Naybet.

"To play in English football is a dream for anyone," Naybet told the Daily Mirror newspaper. "To end my career at Tottenham Hotspur would be phenomenal."
