Moroccan expatriates represent 10 percent of Moroccan population
Moroccan Justice minister, Mohamed Bouzoubaa, underlined Tuesday that Moroccan expatriates represent 10 percent of the Moroccan population, noting that the national legislation takes into account the interests of this community.
Speaking on the occasion of the Migrant Day (August 10), the minister said the particular interest granted to expatriates is not circumstantial, but it is part of a global strategy. He recalled in this connection, the legislation recently promulgated in the realm of investment and the Family Code that both took into consideration the situation of Moroccans living abroad.
Earlier, Minister in charge of Economic and General Affairs, Rachid Talbi Alami, said in a meeting with Moroccan expatriates, the Migrant Day is a recognition of the efforts of Moroccan expatriates in the country's economic development.
In another meeting held on the same occasion in Casablanca, Moroccan minister of state Abbas El Fassi, called Moroccan expatriates to set up more associations throughout Europe in order to facilitate communication with the Moroccan government and European associations.
The official also praised the intensification of investments carried out by this community in their home country as a token of their citizenship and their attachment to their roots.
