The pace of crisis was escalated between the Jordanian government and the vocational trade Unions on the background of accusing the trade union committee of resisting normalization with Israel.

The chairman of the Jordanian engineers Union Wael al-Saqqa said that the Minister of the interior Samir Habashenah threatened the engineers trade union council to bring the normalization resistance committee before the state security court if the engineers union will not give up the decision to punish parliamentarian Raed Qaqish for wanting to normalize relations with Israel.

Official sources in Amman said that al-Habashinah stressed the seriousness of this threat, through reviving a former decision of the special divan on explaining laws stated the illegality of the trade unions council and the anti normalization trade unions committee unless the engineers union council abrogates its decision to punish Parliamentarian Qaqish.

As for the position of the engineers union concerning the government's threats, al-Saqqa said that the vocational trade union council which represents some 100,000 members will be meeting on Sunday to discuss the threat made by the minister of the interior, calling on the prime minister Faisal al-Fayez to interfere directly and halt any threat.

Al-Saqqa expressed the persistence of the trade union to proceed forward in resisting normalization, noting " no backtrack for our decision to resist normalization, it is a national and religious duty and a protection for the interests of the Jordanian people from the Zionist incursion."

However, this crisis blew up after the participation of parliamentarian Raed Qaqish in a dialogue program with the director of the office of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon at the American al-Hurra satellite TV station.
