The working visit Moroccan interior minister, Al Mostafa Sahel, paid to Algeria recently was "positive," said Communication Minister and Government spokesman, Nabil Benadellah.

Speaking at a press briefing Thursday, following the weekly cabinet meeting, Benabdellah said the visit was a "new opportunity to discuss a number of bilateral issues, of interest to the two peoples."

He also reiterated the Kingdom's commitment to "promote Moroccan-Algerian relations in all realms."

Sahel and his Algerian counterpart, Noureddine Yazid Zerhouni, agreed Wednesday to set up a task group in charge of bilateral security cooperation.

According to a joint communique released following Sahel's 2-day visit,(July 20-21) the task group will be set up as of the 4th trimester of this year to establish efficient security coordination mechanisms.

Addressing Algerian journalists at the end of his visit, the Moroccan Interior Minister stressed that cooperation between the two countries is doing well and that it will be further reinforced, within a few weeks, thanks to the set up of security coordination mechanisms.
