Expat's claiming the right to vote absolutely legitimate, minister
Claiming the right to vote by Moroccans residing abroad is "absolutely legitimate," said minister- delegate for expatriates, Nouzha Chekrouni.
Speaking Tuesday in Morocco's TV channel TVM, the minister said her department is dealing with the issue very seriously, adding that a bilateral committee was set up by the expats' ministry and the Consultative Council of Human Rights (CCDH) to associate the Moroccan community abroad in scrutinizing the matter.
She said "achieving full citizenship of Moroccans residing abroad, either in their home or host countries, is the very basis of her department's strategy."
We are working to identify the expectations of our community abroad in order to set up an action plan for the decade to come, she said.
