Iranian Spokesman highlights Iran's position

Originally published

Iranian government spokesman Abdullah Ramadan Zada said Monday his country stood strongly against any aggression or military attack on any country in the world, criticizing the U.S. "warmonger policy" over the past two years and its negative consequences.

Zada told a news conference that the occupation forces in Iraq should withdraw unconditionally and pave the way for the Iraqi people to decide their own future without any foreign pressures.

The Iranian official expressed his country's readiness to help establish peace and stability in Iraq.

Zada, answering a question on the content of a message sent to the Iranian President Mohammad Khatami from the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, said it was natural the UN Chief would call Iran to cooperate and help bring stability in the region.
