International Damascus Flower Show opened

The 31st International Flower Show was opened Monday evening. The Fair is organized by Tourism Ministry in cooperation with Damascus Governorate.

Tourism Minister Saad Allah Agha al-Qala at the opening ceremony said in a speech that the annual Roses Fair shows the importance of roses in general, and the Damascene rose in particular to encourage tourists to visit Syria and see this rose which is internationally well known in its original environment.

He added the Damascene Rose has become a symbol of the Syrian different nature attractions in the mountains, coasts, rivers, forests and deserts. Later, the minister and his companions toured the pavilions of the fair, which amounted to100, and inspected the most important local, Arab and international roses.

Several countries including Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Holland and Costa Rica, in addition to 20 Arab and foreign companies and about 50 Syrian companies are taking part in the Show.
