Sahara issue: Spain seeks to improve conditions for solution accepted by all parties

Originally published

Spain is seeking to improve conditions to reach "a solution accepted by all the parties" to the Sahara issue, said in Tunis Saturday Spanish foreign minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos.

"We always like grown fruits (É) the solutions must grow in the Sahara. We support a definitive settlement," Moratinos told the London-based daily in Arabic Al Hayat.

"We are trying, in the framework of the UN, to find a way to the settlement. We are listening to all the parties to resolve the question which has lasted over 30 years, hindering the construction of the (North African region) Maghreb."

"We will try (to do so) with a lot of modesty, in this new international context and in collaboration with other parties, to help the parties reach a understanding in the framework of the United Nations," he added.
